What Is Allergic Conjunctivitis?

Allergic conjunctivitis is a common condition resulting from exposure to an irritant called an allergen. The eyelids and conjunctiva (the thin layer of clear, but vascular tissue that covers the white of the eye) become itchy, red, and swollen. Eye allergies are not contagious so they cannot be transferred from person to person.

Our office performs a thorough examination to determine the type of conjunctivitis a patient has and to develop a treatment plan for each individual. Contact us today about the causes, symptoms, and treatments of allergic conjunctivitis.
