Louis J. Chorich III, MD

Dr. Chorich is a board-certified ophthalmologist, specializing in diseases of the retina and vitreous. He has been a clinical research investigator and sub-investigator on 23 trials over the past two decades.


Dr. Chorich earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University, College of Medicine in Columbus, OH. He completed a preliminary medicine internship at Riverside Methodist Hospital (now Ohio Health) and residency training at The Ohio State University, Department of Ophthalmology. He completed a two-year Vitreoretinal Surgery Fellowship at The Ohio State University.


From 1998 to 2006, Dr. Chorich served as a full-time faculty member of The Ohio State University, Department of Ophthalmology. He has been involved in training medical students, ophthalmology residents, and vitreoretinal fellows. He continues to teach as an assistant clinical professor. He has authored chapters in ophthalmology textbooks and has contributed to several medical journals. He lectures at local and national ophthalmology conferences.


Dr. Chorich has served as an investigator in a number of clinical research trials studying new treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic eye diseases, and other retinal disorders. His other clinical interest is in the diagnosis and treatment of uveitis, retinal vascular disease and retinal detachment. He is a computer programmer and consultant, and has a special interest in computer applications for ophthalmology.


Dr. Chorich is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, Ohio Ophthalmologist Society, the American Medical Association, Ohio State Medical Association, and Columbus Medical Association.
