There are two main categories of glaucoma, open angle and closed angle glaucoma.

What Is Glaucoma?

Glaucoma is an eye disease that damages the optic nerve. When pressure builds inside the eye it causes damage to the optic nerve, limits peripheral vision, and then can lead to blindness. Patients may never even notice symptoms, but once the optic nerve is damaged it cannot be repaired. Therefore, regular eye exams are vital for early detection and treatment of glaucoma.
